Question by Courtney j: Is a Mortgage co required to issue a monthly mortgage statement?
I was in arreas on my mortgage until 06/2011. Now my mortgage Co refuses to issue a mortgage statement and will not correspond with me in writing. My mortgage is current.

  1. there is no requirement for a monthly statement, unless it was written into your contract [which i doubt].

    there is a requirement for an annual statement [tax form] and an annual reconciliation of the escrow account attached to your mortgage [if you have one].

  2. Do you mean they won’t issue you a paper statement? That’s possible. I would find it hard to believe that a mortgage company would not be willing to give you that information by other means, though, either electronically, in person, or maybe even over the phone. Try asking them if there’s an online way you can look at your principal balance, and payment history. You could always print that out if you want to keep it in a file.
